In 1904, 11 women created an organization that would provide educational, philanthropic and leadership opportunities for women - Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity.
The Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation was created in 1962 ensuring that the Fraternity's mission would live on into Alpha Gamma Delta's second century, allowing women of all ages to make positive differences on their campus and in their communities - leaving a legacy for generations of women to follow.
Since Juvenile Diabetes is the current philanthropic focus of the fraternity, large grants are given annually to organizations and individuals for research, care and treatment of patients, and education about the disease.
Locally, the ladies of Delta Nu aid and assist the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in Calgary. From Starry Starry Night, a gala to raise funds, to golf tournaments, the ladies participate in many events to promote financial donations, research, treatment and education.
The events that the ladies of Delta Nu participate vary each year, as our local philanthropic focus concentrates on many charitable organizations. Last October, over Halloween the ladies went trick or treatin' for canned goods for the local food bank. A program called Skate a Kid to Camp benefits unfortunate children who are unable to attend summer camps is also another event our ladies love to help out at. There are many more events that the members of Delta Nu participate in which are either locally or personally inspired.
